31. The Nature of this Doctrine

.... In every way, this study has been approached from a Christ-centered perspective. Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith, and this truth is the actual substance for the doctrine in every way. Every point of this study is dependant on Christ, and He Himself is its true object. .... The message of this doctrine is a message of humble sincerity, commitment, and the need for remaining teachable; it is a message of pressing onward, trusting the Lord, and seeking always to glorify Him. These are major Christian themes. It allows for human errors without condoning them, offering hope to those who should fall (in contrast to Arminianism, which rules by fear of ultimate rejection). At the same time it is able to keep one’s heart honest in matters of sin (in contrast with Calvinism, which is corrupted by some to allow a license for sin). .... The explanations in this study seem to be answerable to any Scripture that bears on this subject. But if revisions are discovered to be necessary, they should be approached with the same sincerity shown here: that of seeking the testimony of Christ. According to Eph 4:13-14, there will be unity of the faith and no more winds of doctrine when this perspective is observed.
